Opportunity Spotlight: Google Fellowship

Google Public Policy Fellowship Summer 2026
You might hear about internships in product, marketing, or engineering at tech companies, but there are also opportunities to work at the intersection of technology and public policy. One example of that is the Google Public Policy Fellowship.
As a Google Policy Fellow, students spend the summer working at leading public interest organizations in Washington, D.C. that focus on internet and technology policy. Fellows support research, policy analysis, writing, and advocacy efforts on issues shaping the future of the internet, from digital rights to emerging technology governance.
The program runs from June through August, where fellows either full-time or part-time and receive a stipend of $12,000 (full-time) or $6000 (part-time). This fellowship is open to students from all majors who are interested in technology policy and want to gain hands-on experience working with organizations shaping the future of tech. Take a look at all of their host organizations HERE.

Youtube launches new tool to detect and report AI deepfakes of public figures
YouTube has introduced a pilot program designed to help public figures identify and report AI-generated deepfake videos that impersonate them without consent. The tool allows government officials, political candidates, and journalists to submit identity verification through a video selfie and government ID.
Once enrolled, participants can access a dashboard showing videos detected by YouTube’s systems that may use their likeness. Users can then request that the videos be reviewed or removed. While the system does not prevent deepfakes from being uploaded, it provides a reporting mechanism as concerns grow about AI-generated misinformation. Experts note that fast response times are crucial since deepfakes can spread rapidly online. Read more HERE from NYT.
Meta acquires Moltbook, an AI-only social network for autonomous bots
Meta has acquired Moltbook, a social network designed exclusively for AI agents, and hired its creator Matt Schlicht along with collaborator Ben Parr. The platform allowed bots built with the open-source OpenClaw software to interact with one another, similar to users on Facebook or Instagram.
After launching in January, more than 10,000 bots quickly joined the site, drawing attention from developers and observers curious about autonomous AI conversations. Schlicht and Parr will now join Meta’s Super-intelligence Lab, which is focused on developing advanced AI systems. Read more HERE from NYT.
