Bonus tip when applying to these roles:

Following company pages on LinkedIn gives you an advantage when applying to competitive roles. You’ll stay updated on product launches, company news, and employee highlights that you can reference in interviews or cover letters. It’s also likely that they announce their specific career programs on their company pages so you can be one of the firsts to apply.

Following the company pages also shows genuine interest and helps you understand the company’s voice, values, and priorities. And engaging with their posts can increase your visibility with recruiters. Make it a habit to follow target companies early—it’s a small step that can make a big difference.

Recent Industry News:

Alphabet surges past $100B quarter as search and cloud drive record growth

Alphabet reported a strong third quarter with $102.35 billion in revenue, up 16% year over year, as Google Search remained resilient despite rising A.I. competitors like ChatGPT and Perplexity. Profit rose to nearly $35 billion, far exceeding analyst expectations.

A recent antitrust ruling eased regulatory pressure by allowing Google to maintain its lucrative default search deal with Apple. Search revenue grew 15% to $56.57 billion, while Google Cloud surged 34% to $15.16 billion, reflecting growing demand for A.I. infrastructure. Despite heavy spending on new A.I. data centers, Alphabet’s profits continued climbing. Regulatory challenges, however, remain a key risk. Read more HERE from NYT.

G.M. cuts nearly 3,500 jobs as EV demand falls after tax credit repeal

General Motors will lay off 1,750 workers indefinitely and 1,670 temporarily as it scales back electric vehicle production following the elimination of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. With slower EV demand and shifting U.S. energy policy, GM is idling factories in Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee, including Detroit's factories ruined to January. Battery plants operated with LG will also pause operations until mid-2026. The company recently took a $1.6B charge and joins Rivian and Volkswagen in cutting EV output amid declining sales.
