Intern Spotlight: Jayla Eloy

Can you give us a brief introduction of yourself and a look into your internship at FOX Entertainment as an Experiences and Design intern?

Hi! I am Jayla Eloy, a current junior at the University of Southern California. I am studying Business Administration with an emphasis in Analytics in a minor in Culture, Media, and Entertainment. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia but I now live in Los Angeles, so I’m pretty familiar with each coast in the U.S. My interests lie in the realms of entertainment and tech in roles that connect analytics and people.

As an experiences and design intern at FOX, I work with my team on internal and external events. From setting up to disassembling events equipment, I also assist with the brainstorming process for events on top of the events execution. For the design portion of my role, it’s more about designing items for internal and external uses like PR boxes.

In your internship with FOX Entertainment, what was the most challenging aspect of your internship, and how did you overcome it?

The most challenging aspect of my internship has been working cross functionally. The experiences and design team has been very unique in the sense that we work with every other department. This means that we have to adapt to the language and culture of the different departments.

I was able to adjust pretty fast with practice and connecting with people. I find that doing prior research is very helpful so you can know what the culture is like in order to collaborate well.

What is one advice you’d give to students majoring in Business who might not be sure what they want to pursue as a career?

One piece of advice I would give to students majoring in Business and whom might not be sure what they want to pursue as a career is to explore as much as you can. Connect with people, set up coffee chats, and take different types of opportunities.

My last internship was with Deloitte, which was so different from FOX, but I feel like it gave me guidance in knowing what I like and don’t like career-wise. So, just do as much research as you can internally and externally. There are things that you are really good at and enjoy, you can definitely relate these things to a career path. Breathe, you got this!

Boeing strike ends as production restart faces delays

Boeing delivered only 14 planes in October, its lowest monthly total since November 2020, due to a seven-week machinist strike that halted most aircraft production. While workers must return by Tuesday following approval of a new contract with 38% pay raises, restarting operations will take weeks.

The strike disrupted production of 737 Max, 767, and 777 models, but Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner production continued at its South Carolina nonunion plant. Despite setbacks, Boeing sold 63 aircrafts in October. The delays have widened the gap with rival Airbus, which has delivered 559 planes compared to Boeing’s 305 so far this year. Palantir hits record high as it announces move to Nasdaq

Palantir’s stock surged 11% to a record high after announcing its move from the NYSE to Nasdaq, effective Nov. 26, under the ticker “PLTR.” The company’s shares have climbed over 45% since reporting better-than-expected Q3 earnings and are nearly four times higher this year.

Palantir highlighted strong demand for AI technologies, including a 40% rise in the U.S. government revenue. While the move to Nasdaq won’t alter fundamentals, analysts cautioned the stock’s rally may outpace its financial growth. Read more HERE from CNBC.
