Founder Updates: Arlina Yang

Hello Everyone! It’s been a while since I gave an update about myself as the founder of CareerNow + a university student just like you.

Hello everyone, Arlina here and it’s been around 6 weeks since the official launch (Aug 16th) of CareerNow, a student newsletter to help students in their early career journey.

I’m incredibly grateful for all the love CareerNow has received from students all across the United States and beyond. I want to thank all 15,500 of you for trusting CareerNow to help you in your journey as an aspiring career professional. I’m rooting for you, and don’t ever give up!

I recently posted yesterday about an update about myself as a founder, student, and the girl whose claim to LinkedIn fame was getting laid off from Tesla. But I know not everyone on this list has connected with me 🤧 connect with me HERE please.. SO I wanted to give an update here as well if you didn’t catch that.

It’s been 3 days since school started and I already miss my dog. His name is Lucky.

My summer 2024 after being laid off:

After layoffs and launching CareerNow, I still kept myself busy in the background with new opportunities and fun summer activities!

Reached 10,000 followers on LinkedIn

Toured 4 different company headquarters: Chegg, Google, Notion, and Amazon

Secured 8 technical certifications (Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn)

Met my first ever mentor Jeff Nguyen from BobaTalks irl!

Selected as a fellow for the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. Design Summit

Invited as a panelist for an upcoming F100 company conference

Accepted into the Intuit TurboTax Ambassador program

Enjoyed time, memories, and travels with friends and family

What is my advice I’d give to students who are looking to work on recruitment for the upcoming summer?

Work on a passion project alongside recruitment.

A passion project also works as an experience to highlight during your interviews, on your resume, and even on LinkedIn.

It shows proactiveness, independent, and creativity. I talk about my passion projects like my blogs and this newsletter almost 75% of the time during my interviews, and this passion project have also LED me to new opportunities.

Working on something you can call your own is a great hobby and way to fill up your free time with a project you’re passionate about.

If you don’t know what passion project idea to take on, HERE’s a list of 80+ passion project ideas that I curated just for you as an audience of CareerNow!!

JPMorgan is planning on suing the U.S. government ; here’s why

This conflict reflects growing tension between large financial institutions and regulatory agencies. Banks are increasingly challenging regulations in conservative courts, leveraging legal avenues to weaken oversight. JPMorgan’s potential lawsuit highlights a shift in power dynamics, where banks are more willing to confront regulators publicly, a scenario previously unimaginable in the industry.
