Employee Spotlight: Masada Hutabarat

Can you give us an introduction of yourself and a look into your role at NVIDIA as a senior digital media manager?

Hi! My name is E and I currently work at NVIDIA in Digital Marketing. For the past 6 years, I’ve been managing marketing campaigns across consumer & enterprise. These activities include activations for our product launches, events and seasonal beats. I mostly work within advertising, so my goals include working with product teams on ensuring their key metrics are met with different paid media campaigns.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job, and what is the most challenging?

The most rewarding part of my job is visualizing our company’s goals come to fruition. Our mission has always had a major focus on AI, and seeing it come in full stride is amazing!

With that being said, there’s always many campaigns and activations around the clock. Often times they come last minute with many changes, so being able to truly work on the fly and be adaptable is a challenge.

What is one advice you’d give to students who want to pursue media/digital marketing in big tech?

Find a local internship or job on campus within marketing first! That’s how I got my first experiences as a college student. Doing marketing for orgs or non profits is also another way to gain experience without applying for an internship.

SoftBank invests $1.5 Billion in OpenAI through Employee Tender Offer

SoftBank has invested $1.5 billion in OpenAI, enabling current and former employees to sell shares via a tender offer. The deal, led by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son through Vision Fund 2, aligns with the conglomerate’s focus on AI and comes after a $500 million investment in OpenAi’s previous funding round.

Employees holding restricted stock units for at least two years can sell shares at $210 each, matching OpenAI’s recent valuation of $157 billion. The move reflects growing demand for liquidity in a slow IPO market and highlights SoftBank’s commitment to the AI sector as OpenAI faces rising competition. Read more HERE from the CNBC.

Databricks raises $5 billion at $55 billion valuation

Databricks is raising at least $5 billion, valuing the company at $55 billion, to help employees sell shares and reduce pressure for a liquidity event like an IPO, sources told CNBC. The ongoing round could reach $8 billion, making it one of the largest in 2024, after OpenAI’s $6.6 billion raise.

Founded in 2013, Databricks specializes in data analytics and AI, helping enterprises build generative AI tools. Despite private marketing growth, CEO Ali Ghodsi emphasized long-term success over near-term IPO plans, citing challenging public market conditions for software firms like Snowflake and Stripe.
