⭐ Bonus tip when applying these roles:
If you’re interested in pursuing a creative career across different areas of marketing or design, it’s helpful to take online courses on LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, or etc to polish up your skillset if you don’t have real-world experience to reflect your capabilities.
It’s helpful to learn about different domains of a creative industry, because it also puts you above other potential candidates if you have multi-faceted skillsets under your belt.

Intern Spotlight: Amy Herrera Rodriguez

Can you give us an introduction of yourself and a look into your current internship at Salesforce as a product marketing management intern?
Hi there! I’m Amy, a rising senior at the University of Michigan—Go Blue! I’m majoring in UX Design with minors in Business, and Public Policy. This summer, I had the exciting opportunity to intern as a Product Marketing Management intern at Salesforce. I collaborated with the AppExchange Product Marketing Management team, diving into content migration and strategy, project management, and cross-functional teamwork. What stood out to me was Salesforce’s genuine people-centric culture; I learned so much from some of the best minds in marketing and management.

Before Salesforce, you also took on roles in product design with Meta and IBM, how did your journey look like when pivoting from design to marketing?
Transitioning from design to marketing management was a deliberate choice for me, driven by a desire to explore diverse roles within the tech industry. Design and marketing are deeply interconnected; many UX principles apply to marketing work, including competitive analysis, audits, and general management skills. I’m thrilled I took this opportunity—it not only broadened my perspective but also deepened my understanding of both myself and the company.
What is one advice you’d give to students who are looking to pursue product marketing or product design roles?
If you’re aiming for a career in product marketing or product design, my best piece of advice is to just go for it. Stop second-guessing yourself, your experiences, and your projects. Take the leap, trust in your abilities, and be prepared to adapt when discussing your work. I understand the struggle firsthand—I’m also a student figuring out my path and passions. Embrace the journey, and remember that confidence and adaptability are key.

Visa accused by U.S. Justice Department for illegal debit network monopoly
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has sued Visa, accusing it of maintaining an illegal monopoly over debit payments through exclusionary agreements that stifled competition. Visa’s dominance has led to billions in fees passed onto consumers and merchants, affecting the prices of many goods.
The DOJ alleges that Visa’s actions have hindered innovation and blocked rivals. Visa, which handles over 60% of U.S. debit transactions, denies the charges, calling the lawsuit meritless. This lawsuit follows previous regulatory scrutiny of Visa and Mastercard, both of which have benefited from a booming card-based payment industry. Read more HERE from CNBC.
Meta is distancing itself from politics; here’s why
Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has reduced political content on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, prioritizing neutrality as the U.S. approaches its next election. By deemphasizing political posts, Meta aims to limit misinformation and shift focus to less controversial topics like sports and cooking.
Election security efforts have been scaled back, and Zuckerberg has distanced himself from politics, delegating responsibilities to other executives. Despite the reduction in political visibility, political posts and misinformation still exist on Meta’s platforms, while other social media, such as Tiktok and X, have become more prominent for political discussions.
