Ambassador Spotlight: Michelle Feng

Can you give us an introduction of yourself and a brief look into your role at Adobe as a product ambassador?

Hey! I’m Michelle Feng, and I’m a 3rd year product design student at the University of California, Davis. As an Adobe product ambassador, I spread the word about Adobe products to UC Davis students through social media, hosting design workshops, and doing product giveaways!

Besides your role as an Adobe ambassador, you're very involved in many organizations, hackathons, and events. How do you think being a part of the campus or other extracurricular activities help you grow in your early career?

As a freshman in college, I was unsure what I wanted to pursue a career in, so I explored. I didn’t know where I was going at first, but my one goal was just to meet people. To meet people and learn about what was out there. Having this growth mindset helped solidify my career interest in product design, meet my now mentors, and gave me a sense of many possible routes beyond college.

What is one advice you would give for students who are looking to go into design roles in UX/UI in the future?

My one piece of advice is to surround yourself with others who are also looking to pursue UI/UX design. This can mean joining a tech club, taking a design class, or attending a hackathon/designathon. I did all three, and I would say being fully immersed in the world of design helped me grow the quickest.

Adobe General Counsel Dana Rao steps down after 14 years to prioritize family

“Personally, I think you need a three-year commitment to truly have an impact on your organization, your team, and, in some cases, the world…Last spring, as I approached my Adobe anniversary, I looked at the other priorities in my life and decided that they needed more of my attention. And in jobs like this, you have to put everything you have into everything you do,” Rao said on LinkedIn.
